A leading figure in human development, public leadership, and women’s empowerment, Lamia Bazir represents a new generation of Moroccan and African leaders, combining strategic rigor, international vision, and deep humanism. Her career is distinguished by an exceptional ability to bridge high-level policy thinking, institutional leadership, and tangible impact on the ground, in service of Morocco and the African continent.

Lamia Bazir holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University in New York, where she graduated with distinction and was awarded the prestigious Harvey Picker Prize for Public Service. She is also a graduate of Sciences Po Paris, Al Akhawayn University, and holds an Executive Certificate from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Her academic journey reflects a strong commitment to excellence, leadership, and global public service.

From 2018 to 2023, she served as Executive Director of the National Observatory for Children’s Rights of Morocco, an institution chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem. In this role, she led the design and implementation of major public policies and national and African-scale programs, strengthened coordination among institutional and territorial actors, and expanded partnerships with international organizations, notably UNICEF. Her leadership contributed to lasting advances in child protection, social policy, and inclusive development in Morocco and across Africa.

Previously, Lamia Bazir worked at the Office of the Head of Government of Morocco, where she contributed to the development of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact II with the United States, focusing on education reform, youth employability, and women’s inclusion. She also served within the United Nations system in New York at the UN ECOSOC, contributing to the preparatory work of the Sustainable Development Goals, and collaborated with Transparency International in Niger and the League of Arab States in Paris.

Alongside her institutional career, she founded Empowering Women in the Atlas, a pioneering initiative that promotes rural women’s leadership as a driver of human, social, and economic development. This flagship project reflects her strong belief in inclusive, community-based development rooted in dignity, opportunity, and long-term impact.Her work has received national and international recognition. She has been named among the 100 Most Influential Young Africans, the Young Arab Leaders, and the Next Generation Women Leaders, and was honored by the Global Humanitarian Awards among Africa’s most distinguished women leaders.Today, Lamia Bazir is widely regarded as a credible and respected voice in leadership, governance, social inclusion, and international cooperation. Her approach—at the intersection of strategy, ethics, and human-centered leadership—positions her as a key contributor to Morocco’s and Africa’s transformation agendas, as well as to global policy and development debates. Fluent in English, Arabic, French and proficient in Spanish, she is widely regarded as a credible interlocutor in multilateral settings.
